Summary
The Korean Society for Extracellular Vesicles (KSEV), established in June 2009, was the
world's first society dedicated to extracellular vesicles and exosomes. Since then, it has
been holding regular academic conferences every year, leading the academic development
in the field of extracellular vesicles in Korea. Over the past three years, the consistent
organization of summer workshops involving industry and government stakeholders, along
with the annual conferences of the Korean Society for Extracellular Vesicles (KSEV), has
significantly enhanced collaboration within the EV field and contributed to the overall
improvement of human health.
As of 2024, KSEV has established itself as an academic society with 500 members from
academia and industry. Additionally, society members played significant roles as executives
in the founding and development of the International Society for Extracellular Vesicles (ISEV)
since 2012. KSEV is a leading organization globally contributing to the advancement of the
exosome field.
In 2019, KSEV played a pivotal role in founding the Asian Pacific Societies for Extracellular
Vesicles, successfully organizing the first annual conference (APSEV2019) in Jeju, which
was attended by 500 delegates from Korea, Japan, China, Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan,
and Australia. This September, they are preparing to host the ISEV Blood EVs Workshop in
Seoul, aiming to facilitate a significant leap forward through global collaboration with other
national exosome societies.
